Charter School
Board Training

If you are on the board of a charter school, you know that Minnesota Statutes section 124D.10, subd.(f)
requires that:

every charter school board member successfully complete department-approved training on board governance, the board's role and responsibilities, employment policies and practices, and financial management.

The Charter School Board Training program brings together all necessary components to fulfill the requirements mandated by the Minnesota Department of Education. We offer it on campus in two different formats to accommodate your busy schedule, or we can bring all or part of the program to your school or other location, including Greater Minnesota, for a customized training. For information on customized trainings, please contact Margie Siegel, or 651-962-4291.

By taking this program through the University of St. Thomas, not only will you meet the requirements put forth by the state, you will also have the opportunity to learn in an atmosphere that supports participants’ subject-matter mastery and leads to business excellence. Our expert instructors will deliver challenging yet condensed curriculum that uses case studies, lecture, and application exercises to teach timely, relevant topics. You’ll also find that the small classes and collaborative environment help you form a tight-knit network of industry peers.

Convene with charter school board members and become:

  • More confident in your leadership skills
  • Better equipped to build a healthy charter school board and face challenges as they arise
  • Focused with an action plan and framework for growing and sustaining your board
  • Renewed, excited, and ready to lead your charter school into the future

Note: This program is only open to current and future charter school board members who need to fulfill the board training requirements as mandated by the Minnesota Department of Education.
